Signs You Have A Problem
During a rainfall, you can hear the water slapping the ground and you see water pouring over the sides of the gutter. There may be a blockage or the gutter itself may not be properly aligned. If you notice paint peeling or corroded wood on the exterior walls of your house, then the gutter is most likely clogged and is causing the water to overflow and run down the back of gutter.
It can also eat away at foundations and basement walls. Leaks and cracks can develop and worsen in the winter months when the ground freezes and expands. Driveways and walkways can sink or rise
Mold or puddles of water forming around the outside of the house are also signs that there are drainage problems.
If gutters don't properly handle the water coming off the roof, it can seep into and damage the overhang known as the soffit and the fascia which the gutters hang on.
One final note: when water pools in the gutters, mosquitoes breed and when water seeps into the woodwork, the wet wood can attract termites.
